Galileo

Galileo and the Church

Hi. I need some help with a question that I am stuck on for my essay.

Do you think that Galileo's efforts to subvert the restrictions placed on him by the Church are effective? Would he have been better able to serve the truth by being more open in his opposition? Why or why not?

I would really appreciate any help or insight anyone can give me. God bless.

Yes, he would have been better served had the Church left him alone to do his work. Galileo did not question Christianity, he expressly believed that the Bible makes no mistakes, and saw his system as an alternate interpretation of the biblical texts.
