Coach Belew’s pre-game prep talk before the Irving Nimitz Vikings game. What arguments does Belew use to try to inspire the players to do their best? Do you think he is convincing? Why or why not?

Their next game is against Irving Nimitz. Coach games tells his boys to play with their “balls out” and to make sure they “light up” Roderick Walker, the star running back of Irving Nimitz. (259) During the game, the quick Irving Walker isn’t prepared for the wall of black jerseys that come crashing down on him. The final score is 48-7 for Permian. While Coach Grimes's speech may have been motivating, it wasn't healthy. It was the sort of hyper-masculine rhetoric that is aggressive and misogyny.
