Freak the Mighty

Friday the thirteenth is not a good day for either Max or Freak. Max is called to the office alone where he learns that his father wants him to appear at his parole hearing. Max goes into full panic mode, covering his ears and shouting repeatedly that he does not want to hear about it. The principal, Mrs. Addison, and the school nurse calm him down assuring him that he will not be forced to do anything against his will. Max is so upset that he does not remember how he wound up sitting on the floor with his legs all drawn up. When he sees that the nurse is crying, he fears that he may have hit her during the time he blacked out.
