Why was Victor's ability to create life at this time period such a dangerous concept?

The time period was Victorian with a strong Judeo-Christian ethic. Concepts of Heaven and Hell were entrenched. Death and what was sacred or not were steadfast. So, Victor tinkering with dead body parts and "creating life" would have been seen as sacreligeous and scandalous.
