why did victor dismiss the idea of suicide, even thoguh he was extremely depressed?

in chapters 10-15

There are a few reasons. Victor feels terribly guilty about the monster's creation, his brothers murder...Victor, however, thinks his own death would be too cruel to his father and sister.Frankenstein also feels that his death would leave the rest of his family unprotected from the monster.
