Robert Walton

Robert Walton is a 28 year old sea captain, and the reader's representative in the novel; he is on a journey to the North Pole region in order to find a passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic when he and his crew meet up with Victor Frankenstein. Walton is the person to whom Victor relates his story. He has much in common with Victor: ambition, drive, and the desire for glory.
