Some people think that romantics were just manic "emo" poets who wandered around crying about love and rainbows. Really it was a time when people, mostly poets, relish in their imaginations. They savoured the possibilities of exploration, of merging the scientific with the mythic. Walton was one of those people wanting to make an expedition to the North Pole in search of a discovery that he wasn't sure about himself. It was the journey he was interested in and the comradery of his fellow men. In many ways both Walton and Victor wanted to explore the undiscovered, just in different ways.
