what does Plainpalais mean or what is it exactly?

i am reading frankenstein for 9th grade literature. i need to know what Plainpalais means in terms. it can be located in Chapter 7 page 33 of frankenstein.

Plainpalais is a "neighborhood" in Geneva, Switzerland.  In Frankenstein, it is mentioned as the location where Victor's brother, William, is murdered.

It is a neighborhood in Geneva, Switzerland. Victor's brother, William, was murdered.

Victor's younger brother William was murdered. Poor him I was crying when he died.
