how do the reactions of victor and his family to williams murder illustrate romantic principles

I don't quite see the connection here. Victor is saddled with guilt and the family , except for Elizabeth, wants to blame the housekeeper. The whole family is obviously deeply upset. I was trying to link this with "romantic principles" but I can't see them. Perhaps somebody else can.
