Victor flees into the woods and then spends a week in bed sick from exhaustion, abandoning his creature to its own devices.

After bringing his creation to life, Frankenstein is repulsed by his work: "I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart." Frankenstein deserts his work hoping to forget what he has created. He spends a week in bed sick from exhaustion, abandoning his creature to its own devices, leaving the creature completely confused and frightened of the world he's been brought into.
