Victor's creation was the ultimate defiance and disrespect toward nature; throughout the book, he experiences peace while surrounded by nature. His disrespect for nature is foreshadowed in his description of himself versus Elizabeth; he mentions his intense love for science and determination to uncover knowledge and describes her as being in love with nature. Throughout the novel, Victor experiences relief from his misery while enveloped in nature, and takes many trips in the course of his life throughout nature, all of which calm him and his suffering. Victor's kiss on the Earth at the end of the novel symbolizes his growth as a character and his realization of the beauty of nature.
