When Washington sat down to write his Farewell Address he had three major goals in mind

 I think that the first was to announce that he would not accept another term as president (hence the two term presidency)  and second, to offer his reflections and comments on the United States. These included:

-Importance of religion and morality

-Extol the benefits of the federal government.

-Warn against permanent foreign alliances.
