Why is Pilar so devoted to Robert?

I think Pilar sees her own passions in Robert. Robert Jordan has become disillusioned the conflict drags on, he realizes that he does not really believe in the Republican cause but joined treir side only because they fought against Fascists. Pilar hates to see this and wants to support Robbert and give him back his passion.
