Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will discuss how Coetzee explores a female perspective that is entirely absent from Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, as well as how Susan resists Foe's attempts to objectify her through his retelling of her story.
