Why is it significant that Algernon bit Charlie?

The relationship between Charlie and Algernon is so intricately connected that people see what happens to one happening to the other. Thus, after Algernon uncharacteristically bites Charlie he dies..... this foreshadows the change in Charlie, and the possibility of his death.
