Before Charlie’s operation, the employees at the bakery were jovial with Charlie but also made fun of him. After Charlie's operation, he begins to understand the environment at the bakery. He realizes that his co-workers have been making fun of him. He is able to design a machine that is more efficient than people. Charlie also catches and reports a co-worker for stealing. Charlie's co-workers begin to fear him.
