Fifty Shades Darker is the second book of the Fifty Shades trilogy by E.L. James. Fifty Shades follows the relationship of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Christian introduces to Anastasia to the world of BDSM. The novel picks up days after Anastasia broke her relationship with Christian, she also got a job working for a Seattle publishing house. But Christian cannot let her go, so he gives her a new agreement, which Ana agrees to. They continued their sexual fantasy as she learns more about his dark past. While Christian works with his messy life, Ana has to confront the anger and jealousy of the women who came before her.

Fifty Shades Darker was published as an eBook and a print on demand paperback on September 2011. Thanks to word of mouth recommendation, the book became a phenomenon selling millions of copies. Later, the Fifty Shades trilogy was re-released in April 2012 worldwide on bookstores.

On August 1, 2012, Amazon announced that they had sold more copies of Fifty Shades of Grey than the entire Harry Potter series, making E.L. James the best-selling author, replacing J.K. Rowling.

The film adaptation of Fifty Shades Darker is expected to premiere on February 10, 2017, with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan returning to their roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. The last film Fifty Shades Freed is expected to hit theaters on 2018.
