Why Troy is so mean to his son Cory? Explain

Troy does everything he can to dissaude Cory from playing football, even if it hurts him. Troy's own experiences have left him jaded. He doesn't think that Cory can make it in football because he is black, thus, he withholds support and his negativity translates to anger.
