How did the imprisonment in internment camps destroy honor and create shame for some of the family members?

The men were no longer heads of the family. They did not bring home real income or have respect in the camp. Their worth was taken away. Soldiers and the American government humiliate them. The women are left to care for children plus the frustrated and dejected men in their lives.
