For what two reasons does Mama move the family?

After Pearl Harbor, the family moves to Terminal Island. After Jeanne's father's arrest, Terminal Island is evacuated, and Jeanne's mother moves her family into a small home awaiting the decisions of the War Department. Mama moves the family to Manzanar when the Japanese are sent to internment camps. This is not a choice.
