Farewell to Manzanar

Farewell To Manzana - Foreword - Chapter 5

Near the end of this section, there is a "fast-forward" to a few incidents that occur after the camps have closed. What might the author be trying to accomplish with this shift in the setting? Explain.

This is to show that no matter how things turn out, the Wakatsukis can never be the same family as they once were. The camps have changed them forever.
