why does perry think that it was better that it waw turner that was killed?

Perry think it was better only because Turner was a new addition to the squad, and the soldier they had the least amount of emotional attachment to. Perry hadn't known him long enough to form a bond (I'm sure he wasn't the only one), so he was detached from his death.
