Why does Capt. Stewart seem disappointed that the opposing sides are working toward a truce?

Captain Stewart is the Alpha Company's leader. His goal is to receive a promotion to Major. A truce will impede his designs for a promotion and decrease the "body count" he's been obsessed with. Stewart also enjoys the "glory" of ar and the power his title affords him.
