Irony of "The Dwarf"

Filippo's desire for revenge backfires on him. He is angry because of his poor, innocent pets that got killed by the cruel Baldassare. He decides to trick delusional Margherita and prepares a love potion for her to give to Baldassare. But, the love potion is actually a poison intended to kill him. Baldassare is suspicious of the drink that the dwarf is giving him and makes Filippo drink it. Filippo's revenge is even more important to him than his life and he drinks the poison knowing that death is just moments away after.

Irony of Dr. Knoegle's End

Sophisticated Dr. Knoegle goes into a vegetarian camp to improve his health state. He meets quite a variety of people there. The most extreme follower of the camp is Jonas, a gorilla as the others call him, who refuses to use the human language and behave more as an ape than a man. Dr. Knoegle feels disgust for this gorilla man because he soiled human decency. At the end Jonas kills Dr. Knoegle at this place where the poor intellectual man came to heal.

Irony in the "Shadow Play"

Baron, the owner of the castle in "Shadow Play" and another one of Lady Agnes's lovers, gets a visit from his rich brother. Baron's brother is boastful and goes around teasing the poet Floribert and arguing with his misfortune-stricken brother. He gives his brother advice on how to renovate the castle and apply some changes. But, it is easy for this boastful man to talk as he married rich while his unfortunate brother experienced nothing but trouble.
