I think Bradbury was writing to the present and to where he saw the future heading to. Entertainment for its own sake that is often passed off as knowledge or wisdom proliferate society. Why read books when you can plug into Miley Cyrus with her tongue sticking out? Disposable ideas that mean nothing, sitting beside somebody but chatting with someone else in cyberspace, living vacuous lives based on immediate reinforcement....I could go on but if you look around today, there are many similarities to this book.
