Fahrenheit 451

What is the kind of society which Bradbury describes in Fahrenheit 451? Do you think that kind of society is a possibility in the near/distant future of humanity? Why or why not?

I need a short response on that!

The society in Fahrenheit 451 is an authoritarian society. Is this type of society a possibility in the future? Look around you! Books are burned and banned all the time, reality television has taken over, and its characters are considered family by many. Drones (similar to the mechanical dog) are being experimented with regularly and in many instances are currently in use. Cells phones and texting often replace social gatherings..... neighbors don't know each other. The government controls society through media and censorship and its citizens' emotions through the use of drugs. Does any of this sound like it might already be happening today?
