What do you think the reason the government gave for eliminating books?

The excuse given by the for the burning of books was the need to eliminate written views and statements that were perceived to be offensive or demeaning. In other words, all evidence of past  prejudice would disappear..... individual thought would be removed, and citizens would only have access to what they were taught to believe was the truth.

The reason for eliminating books was because they believed that if something made you unhappy or offensive then burn it and books made you question yourself and think twice so thats why reading books was illegal.
