How do the parlor women feel about taking care of children? Giving birth? Marriage? Husbands? Politicians?

Mildred's friends, like Mrs. Bowles , have children but don't know the first thing about parenting. The state seems to mould them into what they want while leaving the parent-child relationship vapid and negative. All their relationships work on a superficial level. Giving birth is a most distasteful process. They like politicians for their esthetic and entertainment value.
