Montag, like the majority of people in his society, has lost all appreciation for reality..... the things happening around them..... the things to be seen and appreciated. Clarisse is trying to open Montag's eyes to the way he is wasting his life..... she's trying to make him see that there is more to life than going through it day to day. Life is to be lived.
