In Part I, Montag feels as if he would have to get rid of all three walls in order to talk to his wife. Her days and nights are spent with her television family, and she has no interest in anything else. Mildred lived, slept, and talked about nothing else. This realization frustrates Montag and makes him angry. He questions their life together, but more than that, he questions his own.
