Everyday Use

Why do you think Dee is taking pictures of everything with her Polaroid?

Dee commodifies all the things that are in her mother's house. She treats the items Moma uses for "everyday use" as artifacts for a cultural display. The polaroids are meant to exploit these items as quaint and primitive rather than essential. This is verry degrading to Mama and Maggie.
