I would describe Dee's relationship at home with her mother as being filled with conflict. Dee was intelligent and ambitious. She wasn't happy with what she had, and she was determined to move beyond the family..... out on her own, and into the world of success.... nice clothes, intelligent conversation, and enough money to finance the materialistic lifestyle she coveted. Mama...... she was happy with what she had.
