why does ethan find it difficult to ask mr hale for a cash adavnce
I really not sure what the answer to this from the ethan frome book, so pls i need help

Mr. Hale had a schedule for the way his payments were remitted. Because of this, Ethan's request to be paid early might be impossible, or at the least, inconvenient.
It was the builder's custom to pay at the end of three months, and there was no precedent between the two men for a cash settlement.
