What is ironic about Zeena's refusual to come to supper?

The irony would come from the fact that she decided to come down later anyway....... whining about sickness, and yet perfectly capable of taking Ethan and Mattie to task over the pickle-dish. It was a moment of truth and idle perception. Did she know about the two of them, or was the accusation just perceived that way?
