I'm hoping this is an opinion question. This is an art-house film so much of it is open to interpretation. My take is that human's enemy is the false notion that pain and sorrow need to be erased from our consciousness. We operate under the premise that we must always be happy. The movie underscores the sense that we can't mature and understand happiness unless we have experienced pain and sorrow as well. Hope that helps a little!
