Esperanza Rising

Esperanza Rising

  1. When Esperanza is told she cannot visit her mother for several weeks, she describes her life as going through "the motions of living." Have you ever felt this way? 2. If so, describe how. What does Esperanza do to increase the amount of joy in her life?

The first part of this question calls for you to use your own experience in answering the question.... text to self. There is no right or wrong answer. After her mother goes to the hospital, Esperanza spends a huge amount of time working to help with the bills. I don't know if this brings her joy, but it certainly keeps her busy. She also spends time visiting her mother, and even buys her mother a pinata.... something she ends up giving to the children in the camp. She felt joy at doing something to make the children happy.
