Eragon Irony

Eragon Irony

Bad habit

Brom and Eragon decide to change their names in order to protect themselves from enemies. If one of them accidentally blabs out his real name, it is okay. In general, they do not want anyone to remember their real names. However, “people have an annoying habit of remembering things they should not”. The author ironically ridicules such human traits as curiosity and ability to gossip.

Irony of Murtagh’s life

The irony of Murtagh’s fate is that he spends most of his life trying to hide from the consequences of the fact that he is the son of a Dragon Rider, who betrays the lofty ideals of this order. As a result, Murtagh actually embarks on the path of his father.

Interesting tactics of Eragon

Before the fight with the enemies, Saphira waves her tail, the tip is whistling loudly. The dragon says that she and Eragon can inflict lots of damage from a safe height and Eragon “offers to drop rocks on their enemies”. Eragon’s tactics seems ridiculous, because Saphira and Eragon are unlikely to kill their enemies with stones, who are able to use their magic.
