Ender learns that Peter is everything he doesn't want to be. In fact, anytime Ender gets into a situation where he has to fight back...... he thinks of his brother.
On the other hand, Valentine teaches Ender the value of unconditional love. She acts as sister, mentor and role model. She's also his protector.
