In posing as Demosthenes, Valentine finds herself sympathizing with his positions and stops being afraid of becoming him. How does this fit in with the novel’s themes about good and evil?

Valentine influences public opinion through her persona Demosthenes, an anti-Russian warmonger who is very different from Valentine herself, but whose personality begins to grow on her. In this we see various levels of identity. Like Ender and Peter, Valentine explores parts of her own identity that she has not known. She matures into a more rounded character. People cease to be strictly "good" or "bad".
