why does mina cover her feet in mud? comment on the ridiculousness of her fears, in light of what we the reader the reader know what is going on

The only reference I find to mud in the text is Jonathan's. Jonathan found Luck outside in her bed clothes. She was very cold and very weak. He gave her his shoes, so she wouldn't be barefoot and daubed his own feet in mud, so no one would notice that he was barefoot. (Page 134)
