Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Why did Hyde murder Sir Danvers Carew?

I need a pretty complex but short answer.

There is really no reason for the murder. Hyde brutally murders an innocent man, without provocation, and apparently without reason. This murder speaks to the chaos and depravity that Hyde freely inflicts upon the city.
