Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

What is the most horrific event of the novel, and why is it more horrific than the murder of Carew?

There are a number of horrific events that are portrayed or described in the story. They steadily become more horrific as the story progresses.

I think Carew's murder is the most horrific event in the novel....... Jeckyll's transformations become more and more horrific as time passes, but Carew's death was pretty violent.
