Doctor Faustus is written in unrhymed iambic pentameter (blank verse). Although portions of the dialog are written in free verse (prose). Marlowe also used allegory, the Seven Deadly Sins in particular, which was a common theme in medieval drama. He also makes use of the soliloquy, which were long speeches used most often by writers during the Renaissance.
