    What does it tell us about Don Quixote that he does not abandon his quest despite the fact that he is repeatedly beaten badly?

    Students should be encouraged to entertain a variety of opinions about Don Quixote's determination in the face of impossible odds. They might think that it shows his devotion to his principles as a knight; that he is an optimist about his chances in all situations; or that he has lost touch with reality so completely that the factual evidence before him is insufficient to establish reasonable determination of his odds of success.
