In Dial M for Murder, Tony Wendice's (played by Ray Milland) watch is an important plot element. Tony gave her wife Margo (played by Grace Kelly) a set time to make her phone call, which was necessary for his plan to kill her.
After plans go awry, Tony discovers that Margot didn't call at the scheduled time. He realizes that his watch has stopped at 11:15, the time he was supposed to call Margot.
It is later revealed that Margot was attacked by an intruder when the clock stopped, causing the clock to break and stop working.
A broken watch helped Margo prove her innocence of a murder plot.
