Eben is our main character and protagonist. He is the youngest son of Ephraim Cabot. Eben's character is portrayed as impulsive and emotional. His focus is to keep control over the land and farm of his family (the land belonged to his mother's family—his mother was Cabot's second wife). Eben is also depicted as smart, curious, and level headed.
