why, during the final pages of act 1, does happy tell linda, "Im gonna get married, mom. I wanted to tell you" ?

Unlike his brother Biff, Happy has a desire to get his parent's attention and please them. His nefarious statement about getting married is not so much about reality than it is about the illusion of happiness, the American Dream, which Willy seems to covet so much.
