Happy and Willy become more conscious of their own failures as well as their father's failure to realize a semblance of the American Dream" that he seems to covet so much. Both boys have an intense desperation to achieve something that their father could not. Unfortunately they share in their father's traits of always wanting more but dreaming about it instead of working for it
