Death of a Salesman

death of a salesman

Critics have said that the tragedy of the play is the tragedy of Biff’s life. Why do you think they say that, rather than saying that the tragedy of the play is the protagonist’s own?If one of the play’s themes is the shallowness of the so-called « American Dream, » how has that « dream » contributed to the perversion of the father-son relationship that’s at the heart of this play’s « message »?
