I think the character of Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke) learned the most in the movie. Mr. Keating helped Todd come out of his introverted shell. He helped Todd discover his own powerful voice. By the end of the movie it is Todd who is assertive enough to lead desktop the salute to Mr. Keating.
